It will say something like "a tank is an armored fighting vehicle, typically tracked, and carrying a cannon as main armament." This description is very loose. Since there’s no ready answer, we’ll have to find it for ourselves. Let’s see what tanks were designed to do in the past, and how their role has evolved since.
