The Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet, designed by Alexander Martin Lippisch, was a German rocket-powered fighter aircraft. It was the only operational rocket-powered fighter aircraft during the Second World War and until today. Although revolutionary and capable of performance unrivaled at the time, it proved ineffective as a fighter and resulted in the destruction of very few Allied aircraft.
Sidensvans waxwings feeding on apples 15th December 2010 at Dalston Cumbria. The waxwings have eaten all of the rowan berries in the area and are now feeding on hawthorn berries and apples. The birds are prefering the apples that have been heavily frozen and are now brown and partially rotted. The fresher apples which have been hung out are almost totally ignored. The birds are quite protective of their own apple and there is a bit of aggression between individuals. Numbers of waxwings on the apples vary between 40 and 250 individuals
